Couple of shots from the morning walk

It was our usual time of the year to head up above Fernhill and see if there was any Great Grey Shrike about and boy was it cold up there. We found lots of Mistle Thrush up on top and lots of a Song Thrush too. Great too hear Skylarks and Meadow pipits singing and displaying and nice to see a couple of pairs of Stonechat back on there territories also a couple of Crossbills on the way up but sadly the only crossbills seen. As we walked along the top I noticed some sheep with cracking hair styles which were very smart. Boy we needed a good bird up there. We did our five hour stint but no sign of any shrikes, there is so much habitat now it's just like looking for a needle in a haystack. We saw these mosses on the way up and now got the answers and it,s called Dead Sheep Moss or Racomitrium Lanuginosum, they looked like lichen at a glance but on looking closer I could see they were moss and very smart too. Nice bit of wall and I bet a fair age .

We found this wall in the forest and dont know whats holding it up and sad to see a work of art in such bad state.
